Recruiting Process & Application Information

We are looking for strong candidates. Those who will succeed at Jefferies will be able to perform a variety of tasks and handle ever - increasing responsibility. Individuals must be self-motivated, possess a great desire to learn and work hard; have strong analytical skills; and the ability to pay particular attention to detail. Prospective applicants should have a superior academic record with a specific emphasis in finance and/or accounting. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Candidates applying to a particular industry group (such as technology, energy, or aerospace & defense) should display a proven interest in that area.

Generalist Track
As a Generalist, you will have the opportunity to work in multiple product areas such as equity & equity-linked financing, leveraged finance, M&A or recapitalization & restructuring across a multitude of industries. Working as part of the Generalist "pool" enables Analysts and Associates to explore different disciplines to focus career aspirations and to develop an abiding personal/professional support network with other Analysts and Associates. Dedicated industry groups that you may work with include aerospace & defense, energy, financial & business services, gaming & leisure, healthcare, industrials, maritime & oil service, media & communications, retail & consumer, and technology.

Industry Track
As a member of the Aerospace & Defense, Energy, or Technology groups, you will be exposed to a variety of product areas within each respective industry group. Working as part of an Industry group enables Analysts and Associates to immerse themselves in one industry of particular interest and work alongside experienced bankers with whom they share that interest. You will gain industry insight while being exposed to different product areas including equity & equity-linked financing, leveraged finance, M&A and recapitalization & restructuring.

International Opportunities
Through its exclusive undergraduate recruiting agent, Oxbridge Life, Jefferies conducts a comprehensive screening process and carries out first round interviews to compile a "short list" of potential candidates. Selected candidates then attend a "superday," meeting with at least 5 Associates and VPs from various Investment Banking divisions. At the MBA level, Jefferies recruits directly from Insead and London Business School. Jefferies typically gives a presentation on campus and students are then invited to a reception where they have an opportunity to speak with bankers. First Interviews are held on campus and successful candidates are invited to the offices for a "superday." There is typically a final interview and an opportunity to meet with peers over an introductory lunch meeting. Applications should be made through the careers service at the school.

Interview process
First-round interviews are typically held on campus in the Fall, followed by a second round either on campus or at a Jefferies office. These are often followed by full-day interview sessions at Jefferies. offices, which will include meetings with professionals from a variety of departments, at all levels of seniority.
