Jefferies Adds Senior Energy Banker; William E. Pritchard III Enhances Firm's Strength in Middle Market

NEW YORK, May 20, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Jefferies & Company, Inc., the principal operating subsidiary of Jefferies Group, Inc. (NYSE: JEF), today announced that William E. Pritchard III has joined as a Managing Director in the firm's energy investment banking group.

Mr. Pritchard will be based in Jefferies' Houston office and reports to Daniel O. Conwill IV, co-Director of Corporate Finance and head of the firm's energy practice.

Before joining Jefferies, Mr. Pritchard was Managing Partner of Merchant Resources #1 L.P., an energy merchant banking partnership between Randall & Dewey, Inc. and GE Capital Structured Finance Group. In that capacity, he managed oil and gas producing assets located primarily in the Mid-Continent and the San Juan Basin. Previously, Mr. Pritchard was Director of Business Development for Spirit Energy 76, Unocal Corporation's domestic business unit. Prior to Unocal, he was a Partner in the law firm of Adams and Reese, where he chaired the firm's energy section.

Mr. Pritchard is a former Chairman of the Oil, Gas and Mineral Law Section of the Alabama State Bar. He is also a Certified Petroleum Geologist, having started his career with Marathon Oil Company. Mr. Pritchard graduated with a bachelor's degree in Geology from Washington & Lee University and holds a Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from South Texas College of Law, where he served on the South Texas Law Review.
