FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Jefferies Adds Professional to Private Debt Placements Group NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 17, 2005-- John Ponterotto Enhances Group Focused on Origination and Distribution for Growing and Mid-Sized Companies Jefferies & Company, Inc., the principal operating subsidiary of Jefferies Group, Inc. (NYSE: JEF), today announced the hiring of John M. Ponterotto as a Senior Vice President in the firm's Private Debt Placements Group. Mr. Ponterotto reports to Neil J. Wessan and Andrew K. Woolford, Managing Directors and Co-Heads of the group. Jefferies' dedicated Private Debt Placements Group is a key component of the firm's capital markets origination and distribution platform and leverages Jefferies' high yield sales and trading effort by extending debt distribution via private placements. The group leads Jefferies' effort in structuring and distributing private debt securities and bank loans. In a joint statement, Messrs. Wessan and Woolford commented, "John Ponterotto is an industry veteran with broad relationships and an extensive track record in private placements. He will immediately enhance Jefferies' ability to better serve growing and mid-sized companies and investors." Mr. Ponterotto has been a Wall Street professional for nearly 18 years. Prior to Jefferies, he was President and Head of Private Placements for Financo Securities. He has held similar private placement positions at CIBC World Markets, BMO Nesbitt Burns Securities, Barclays, and began his career in investment banking at Merrill Lynch. Mr. Ponterotto received an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Chicago. Mr. Ponterotto is based in the firm's Stamford, Connecticut office.
