Jefferies Hires Senior Energy Analyst in High Yield; Evan Templeton to Cover E&P, Oil Service, and Refining

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 4, 2005--Jefferies & Company, Inc., the principal operating subsidiary of Jefferies Group, Inc. (NYSE: JEF), today announced the hiring of Evan S. Templeton as a Senior Vice President and Senior Research Analyst in High Yield. He will follow exploration & production, oil service, and refining companies as part of the firm's overall focus on the energy sector. With the addition of Mr. Templeton, Jefferies and its affiliates in Europe now have ten senior analysts covering energy companies.

The firm's total commitment to the energy sector includes securities research and trading, as well as investment banking, including its recent acquisition of global oil and gas adviser Randall & Dewey. Jefferies and its affiliates now have more than 100 research professionals in the U.S. and Europe covering over 1,000 companies in the areas of aerospace and defense, business, financial and IT services, consumer, energy, gaming, healthcare, industrials, media and entertainment, shipping, technology, and telecommunications.

Mr. Templeton has covered the energy sector for more than 10 years. Prior to Jefferies, he was a Director and Co-Head of High Yield Research at Royal Bank of Canada Capital Markets / RBC Dain Rauscher, and a Senior Research Analyst covering the energy sector for five years. Previously, Mr. Templeton held similar positions at BancBoston / Fleet Securities and Chemical / Chase Securities. He received a BA from Franklin & Marshall College.

Mr. Templeton will be based in Jefferies' Stamford office and will report to Mr. Levy and Mr. Welch.
