FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Jefferies Nominates Michael O'Kane for Board Of Directors; Independent Outside Directors Will Fill Five of Seven Spots NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 18, 2006--Jefferies Group, Inc. (NYSE: JEF) today announced the nomination of Michael T. O'Kane for its Board of Directors. If elected at the annual meeting of shareholders to be held on May 22, 2006, Mr. O'Kane will increase the number of independent directors on the Board to five, and his election would increase the size of Jefferies' Board to seven. Mr. O'Kane, age 60 and retired, most recently served as Senior Managing Director of the Securities Division at TIAA-CREF, where he was responsible for approximately $120 billion of fixed income and $3.5 billion of private equity assets under management. In addition, Mr. O'Kane is a member of the Board of Directors and serves on the Audit and Finance Committee of Assured Guaranty, Ltd. since August 2005.
