FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JEFFERIES EXPANDS EQUITY DERIVATIVES TRADING
WITH ADDITIONAL STRATEGIC HIRE NEW YORK, June 5, 2006 -- Jefferies & Company, Inc., the principal operating subsidiary of Jefferies Group, Inc. (NYSE: JEF), today announced the hiring of Mike George as a Senior Equity Derivatives Trader in its New York headquarters office. Mr. George had most recently been a Vice President at Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he had worked since 1998. "Our ability to attract top-tier Wall Street talent to our growing Equity Financial Products Group is indicative of our unwavering commitment to building out this area of our business," commented Richard B. Handler, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Jefferies. "Over the past dozen years, Mike George has grown to be a top equity derivatives trader, with significant experience managing a diverse range of equity portfolios. His hiring reflects Jefferies' continued strategic investment in Equity Financial Products." Mr. George joins Jefferies following several other significant hires in the firm's Equities Department, including Alex Wohl as Head of Equity Derivatives Trading, Ben Cohen as Senior Equity Derivatives Trader, and Mark O'Donnell as Head of Structured Products. Prior to joining Jefferies, Mr. George worked for Goldman Sachs in New York, where he held the position of Vice President, Senior Derivatives Trader. While at that firm, he additionally held derivatives trading posts in Hong Kong and Chicago, where he specialized in managing international and technology equities portfolios. He began his career at Hull Trading Company in Chicago, which was acquired by Goldman Sachs in 1999. Mr. George received a B.A. in accounting and finance from Gettysburg College.
