NEW YORK, June 29, 2006 -- Jefferies & Company, Inc., the principal operating subsidiary of Jefferies Group, Inc. (NYSE: JEF), today announced the hiring of Michael W. Hyde as a Senior Vice President in the Firm's Private Client Services Department (PCS). Mr. Hyde will be based in Jefferies' Boston office in a geographic expansion of the Firm's PCS business.
Mr. Hyde has 25 years of experience in the securities industry and previously served as a Director at Deutsche Bank Alex Brown. This hire follows the recently announced addition of Mason H. Matschke as a Senior Vice President in PCS working in Jefferies' Chicago office.

The firm's PCS group, with over 50 professionals in Boston, New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Stamford, provides an array of financial services and investment opportunities, including equity, fixed income, mutual funds, structured notes, and separately managed accounts through outside money managers, including funds of funds. The group serves corporate clients and their senior executives, private equity firms, middle market institutions and high net worth individuals.
Jefferies has had a presence in Boston since 1972 and currently has a significant and growing effort with approximately 40 sales, trading and research professionals, and nearly 40 investment banking professionals.
Mr. Hyde has extensive experience in managing equity portfolios, mutual funds, fixed income, estate and trust issues, restricted stock, stock option exercises, and corporate executive services. Prior to joining Jefferies, he spent 16 years as a Director at Deutsche Bank Alex Brown and Sons in Boston (formerly Alex, Brown & Sons). Previously, he worked for Kidder Peabody & Co. Mr. Hyde completed his undergraduate degree Magna Cum Laude from Harvard College and received both his Master's and Doctoral degrees at Tufts University.
