JEFFERIES SIGNIFICANTLY ENHANCES DERIVATIVES AND ETF CAPABILITIES IN CONTINUED EXPANSION OF EQUITIES PLATFORM

Six Senior Professionals Join in Derivatives Sales and ETFs

NEW YORK, June 9, 2009 -- Jefferies & Company, Inc., the principal operating subsidiary of Jefferies Group, Inc. (NYSE: JEF), today announced the hiring of six senior professionals in the area of derivatives sales and exchange traded funds (ETFs) as part of the firm's ongoing expansion of equity capabilities. These year-to-date hires demonstrate the continued growth and diversification of Jefferies' equity platform in 2009.

Summary of Recent Hires

Jeffrey Mann joins Jefferies as a Managing Director within the Firm's Derivatives Sales Group. He brings nearly 20 years of experience to Jefferies and will focus on the sale of derivative securities, including listed options, ETFs and OTC options and swaps. Mr. Mann was most recently at Barclays following that firm's acquisition of Lehman Brothers, where he spent twelve years, and previously at Chase. Mr. Mann received an MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University and a BA from Lafayette College. He will be based in Jefferies' New York headquarters office.

Paul Brownstein joins Jefferies as a Senior Vice President within the Firm's Derivatives Sales Group. He has more than twenty years of experience in equity derivatives and was most recently in the derivatives sales group at JP Morgan following that firm's acquisition of Bear Stearns. Prior to that, Mr. Brownstein worked for Susquehanna Financial Group and Deutsche Bank. He received an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh and a BS from State University of New York at Oneonta. Mr. Brownstein will be focused on expanding Jefferies' derivatives footprint on the West Coast and is based in the firm's San Francisco office.

Mike Cohen joins Jefferies as a Vice President within the Firm's Derivatives Sales Group. He was previously at UBS, where he was part of that firm's equity derivatives sales group. He received a BS from The Pennsylvania State University and is based in New York.

Andrew Ruckh joins Jefferies as a Senior Vice President and Head of ETF Trading in the firm's Derivatives Group. Most recently he was at Deutsche Bank, where he was a Director and led that firm's ETF trading effort, and previously was in the ETF group at Morgan Stanley. Mr. Ruckh received a BS at Dartmouth College and an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. He is based in New York.

Ryan Hadrava joins Jefferies as a Vice President and ETF Trader within the firm's Derivatives Group. He has fifteen years of ETF experience and was most recently at JP Morgan following that firm's acquisition of Bear Stearns, where he was a Vice President in the ETF group. Previously, Mr. Hadrava was with Citigroup and Merrill Lynch. He received a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and is based in New York.

Jason Skalski joins Jefferies as a Vice President and Trader within the firm's Derivatives Group focusing on listed and OTC options. He has seven years of experience and was most recently at UBS, where he worked in a similar role. Mr. Skalski received a BS from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is based in New York.
