JEFFERIES EXPANDS GLOBAL CLEANTECH INVESTMENT BANKING GROUP

NEW YORK and LONDON, July 8, 2010 -- In a further expansion of the firm's Global CleanTech Investment Banking Group, Jefferies announced today the addition of Amy Corinne Smith as a Managing Director and Co-Head of Global CleanTech Investment Banking.

Ms. Smith, based in the firm's San Francisco office, will work in partnership with Bruce Huber, Managing Director and Co-Head of Global CleanTech Investment Banking based in London, and Jeff Lipton, Managing Director and US Head of CleanTech Investment Banking based in New York, to lead the Global CleanTech business.

"Jefferies has been active in the CleanTech sector since 2004, and established the Global CleanTech Investment Banking Group four years ago as a distinct industry specialization because of our firm's view of the prominence this sector would have in the world economy," commented Benjamin Lorello, Global Head of Investment Banking and Capital Markets at Jefferies. "The addition of a highly experienced cleantech banker such as Amy Smith reflects Jefferies' continued commitment to strengthening our leadership in this important and promising sector."

Mr. Huber said, "Our CleanTech team, with approximately 20 bankers based in New York, San Francisco, London and Frankfurt, is excited to have Amy join our global effort. Her significant client relationships both in the US and Asia will make an immediate, additive contribution to our business."

Mr. Lipton added, "Amy will also significantly expand our coverage of the important solar energy sector, where she has deep relationships and sector expertise."

Ms. Smith brings to Jefferies more than fifteen years of cleantech and technology investment banking experience. She joins Jefferies from Barclays Capital and Lehman Brothers, where she spent thirteen years and was most recently Managing Director and Global Co-Head of Alternative Energy investment banking. Ms. Smith received a BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
